The General Aviation Manufacturers Association (GAMA) expressed its support of a measure before the U.S. House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee which would provide $15 billion for critical air traffic workforce, technology and infrastructure investments.

“There is a broad industry consensus for expedient increased investments in the U.S. air traffic control system. GAMA supports the committee proposal, being considered this week, that will provide an essential downpayment for the resources needed to modernize aviation technology and facility infrastructure and address critical air traffic controller staffing needs. A strong infusion of federal funds is critical to ensure that America has a safe, resilient and modern National Airspace System (NAS) now and in the future,” said James Viola, GAMA president and CEO.

In a letter to the Chairman and Ranking Member of the U.S. House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, GAMA expressed its strong and ardent support for the funding, which would provide a fundamental building block to strengthen and modernize the air traffic control system. GAMA also highlighted the importance of Secretary Duffy’s efforts in this area and its engagement with the U.S. Senate and appropriations committees in this critical work.

In addition to the letter, GAMA joined a broad coalition of aviation industry stakeholders, known as the Modern Skies Coalition, in endorsing the committee’s air traffic control modernization provisions.
