Jim Humphrey, senior vice president of sales at Odessa, passed away recently, the company announced via LinkedIn on Monday.
“Jim has served as a beloved member of both the equipment leasing industry and Odessa for nearly two decades, championing integral change and growth throughout the industry,” Odessa wrote in the LinkedIn post. “The kindness and consideration Jim embodied each and every day helped define the cultural fabric of the industry, both within and far beyond Odessa’s walls. He will be deeply missed by all of us.”
Humphrey’s career spanned more than 40 years, including roles with GE Capital, NovaMetric Development Group, LeaseTeam, Genpact and Odessa, where he worked for 15 years prior to his passing. Humphrey was an active member of the Equipment Leasing and Finance Association for many years and served on the association’s operations and technology committee.
“Jim was a class act. We became very close during my time at Odessa,” Lisa Rafter, publisher of Monitor, who worked side by side with Humphrey for three years at Odessa, said in expressing her deep sadness about Humphrey’s death. “He will be remembered for his kindness, his humor and his dedication to our industry. My heart goes out to Jim’s family in this very difficult time.”
According to Odessa, memorial services for Humphrey will take place at 10 a.m. ET at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church in Leesburg, VA, on Nov. 18. Odessa also said that Humphrey’s family requests those wishing to honor Humphrey’s memory make donations to The Open Goal Project instead of sending flowers.
