Fleet Advantage unveiled a new safety benchmarking tool this week at the National Private Truck Council’s annual conference aimed at helping private fleets improve operational safety and compliance.
The Truck Reliability and Usage Safety Tracker, or TRUST, provides data-driven insights across a range of safety indicators including Compliance, Safety, Accountability (CSA) scores, crash trends, inspection violations, and driver fitness metrics.
According to the company, TRUST was developed in response to ongoing concerns about rising crash fatalities involving large trucks. In 2023, 5,078 people were killed in large truck crashes, a figure in line with 2022 data, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
Fleet Advantage reports that the average Unsafe Driving Score for top private fleets is 11.5, which it considers a positive benchmark. TRUST is intended to help fleets proactively address risk factors and compare their performance against peer groups in the industry.
The launch comes ahead of the annual International Roadcheck inspection event scheduled for May 13–15, which focuses this year on tire safety and false records of duty status. According to TRUST data, tire issues account for 44% of ‘Out of Service’ vehicle maintenance violations among private fleets.
Fleet Advantage said the full TRUST report will be released in June and will be available to private fleets, for-hire carriers, and organizations in specific industry verticals. Custom reporting will also be offered based on operational needs.
