Melissa Fisher, Chief Risk Officer at Mazo Capital Solutions, has been mentoring future equipment finance leaders since earning her CLFP in 1995. Her approach is to invest time in helping mentees think beyond their current tasks, focusing on improving their decision-making and communication skills by asking guiding questions rather than giving direct answers. She believes this builds confidence and allows them to learn from their own outcomes.
“Watching someone realize their own potential when they step into a challenge with new confidence and start making their own sound decisions is incredibly fulfilling,” she says. By creating opportunities for mentees to voice their ideas and take ownership, she empowers them to grow and develop, some emerging as mentors themselves.
