Sandhills Global released its July 2025 construction market reports.
U.S. Used Heavy-Duty Construction Equipment
- Inventory levels in this market decreased by 0.65% month over month and 7.72% year over year in July and are trending downward. Used crawler excavator inventory levels dropped more than other categories, by 1.41% M/M and 11.12% Y/Y.
- Asking values were down 0.31% M/M and 3.12% Y/Y and are trending downward. The used wheel loader category posted the largest Y/Y asking value decrease at 5.09%.
- Auction values decreased slightly in July, by 1.52% M/M and 0.63% Y/Y, and are trending sideways. Used wheel loaders led other categories in auction value decreases, falling 1.72% M/M and 4.01% Y/Y.
U.S. Used Medium-Duty Construction Equipment
- In July, used medium-duty construction equipment inventory levels fell 0.96% M/M and 9.52% Y/Y, led by used mini excavators with 3.09% M/M and 19.94% Y/Y decreases. Inventory levels in this market are trending downward.
- Asking values posted modest changes in July, up 0.02% M/M and down 0.28% Y/Y, and are trending upward. Used loader backhoes led other categories in M/M asking price increases, up 1.59%, while used track skid steers led in Y/Y decreases, down 3.22%.
- Auction values were down 0.76% M/M, up 2.02% Y/Y, and are trending sideways. The used track skid steer category showed the largest M/M auction value decline at 1.83%, while the used mini excavator category posted the largest Y/Y increase at 4.95%.
U.S. Aerial Lifts
- Inventory levels of used aerial lifts rose 2.07% M/M and 4.09% Y/Y in July and are trending up. Inventory levels of used rough terrain scissor lifts increased more than other categories, up 3.67% M/M and 29.17% Y/Y.
- Asking values decreased slightly M/M, by 0.49%, and dropped 5.64% Y/Y in July. Asking values in this market have been trending down for five consecutive months. Used telescopic boom lifts led other categories in M/M asking value decreases at 2.02%, while rough terrain scissor lifts led in Y/Y decreases at 8.69%.
- Auction values decreased by 0.63% M/M and 2.94% Y/Y and are trending downward. Sandhills observed the largest category decreases in used telescopic boom lifts, down 3.31% M/M, and used slab scissor lifts, down 8.29% from year-ago levels.
U.S. Forklifts
- Used forklift inventory levels have been trending up for six months in a row. Inventory levels rose 6.29% M/M and 34.99% Y/Y in July, led by the used cushion tire forklift category with increases of 8.56% M/M and 37.37% Y/Y.
- Asking values decreased by 1.36% M/M and 3.29% Y/Y in July and are trending sideways. Used cushion tire forklift asking prices decreased more than other categories M/M, down 2.81%, while used pneumatic-tire forklifts led in Y/Y decreases with a 6.21% change.
- Auction values decreased by 1.22% M/M and 6.64% Y/Y, continuing a six-month-long downward trend. The categories with the largest changes in July were used cushion tire forklifts, down 2.4% M/M, and used pneumatic-tire forklifts, down 7.61% Y/Y.
U.S. Telehandlers
- Inventory levels of U.S. used telehandlers inched lower M/M in July, by 0.21%, but increased 18.14% Y/Y, continuing an upward trend that has lasted for over two years.
- Asking values were up 3.13% M/M but down 4.73% Y/Y and are trending sideways.
- Auction values in this market dipped 0.32% M/M and 5.19% Y/Y and are trending down.
