Melissa Capone’s skillsets are extremely diverse. At Northteq, she has held individual contributor roles, such as business analyst and solution architect, as well as a variety of leadership roles, from team lead to department manager. Capone is able to seamlessly switch from being “in the weeds,” dealing with intricate details, to focusing on strategy and building the big picture.

Although relatively new to the equipment finance industry, Capone has quickly become a subject matter expert on various Northteq products. Currently, she is a senior solution architect for the company, though her capabilities and commitment to work extend far beyond her title. When Northteq needed project management support, for example, Capone was quick to step in and assist with some of the company’s larger and more complex projects. Although her role does not fall along the lines of a program manager, she has excelled in performing tasks that someone in this role typically would. Her success in taking on what was essentially another job has not only been an incredible accomplishment for Capone, but has also had a supremely positive and direct impact on Northteq’s bottom line.

“Melissa’s leadership is exemplified by her ability to step into challenging roles and deliver results,” Capone’s direct supervisor says. Her adaptability, client management skills and her dedication to being a team player are essential value adds to Northteq and its team. Her professionalism and ability to navigate tough client dynamics show strong leadership in managing expectations and driving successful outcomes.

Capone cares deeply about her team and her clients. She is always striving to improve professionally and to meet her stakeholders’ goals and objectives. She ensures she fully understands a problem before she begins to investigate and take steps to solve it. Capone excels in problem-solving and critical thinking, often exceeding expectations in these areas. She consistently uses her resources and creativity to address client problems, offering them tailored solutions.

She also exemplifies accountability and adaptability, establishing herself as a role model for those around her. When something isn’t working, Capone doesn’t hesitate to raise her hand and either call out the problem or volunteer to fix it, taking initiative in helping her team move in a new direction.

Additionally, Capone displays a great amount of resilience. She has taken on a number of tough projects and has been in plenty of tough situations as well, but she takes it all in stride and doesn’t complain. She is skilled in remaining calm under pressure to get the job done.

Two standout accomplishments under Capone’s belt at Northteq include taking over during a tough time with a client and handling the situation, despite its difficulty, with the utmost professionalism. Despite facing challenges, she successfully led the project to go live, demonstrating leadership, problem-solving and resilience. When she led her first project as the lead solution architect for a client, she applied the knowledge she gained from shadowing other projects in the past, again demonstrating her standout skills — growth, adaptability and dedication to learning and improving.

Capone has also led and developed other, more junior consultants. Specifically, when one newer resource was struggling to get up to speed, Capone took her under her wing and, in a short period of time, her unofficial mentee was leading engagements with little support from Capone. •
