Christopher J. Murphy III, executive chairman of 1st Source Bank and 1st Source, was recently recognized with the Leaders in Banking Excellence award, the Indiana Bankers Association’s (IBA) highest honor.
“We are pleased that Chris was honored by the IBA with this award,” Andrea Short, CEO of 1st Source Bank and CEO and president of 1st Source, said. “His contributions over the past 50-plus years (giving of his time, leadership and expertise) have helped to shape the Indiana banking community. Chris is a passionate advocate for our clients, our communities and community banks and is a true example of what it means to be a servant leader.”
Amber R. Van Til, president and CEO of IBA, added, “Leaders like Chris are precisely who we had in mind when the Association created this honor. A true giant of our industry, Chris has maintained a consistent focus on the Hoosiers his institution serves even as it has grown to become one of the state’s largest banks. It’s our honor to shine a spotlight on a truly remarkable career.”
Murphy’s name will be added to a permanent Wall of Excellence in the Association’s offices in Indianapolis alongside the 46 other honorees since the award’s inception in 2018.
