Martha Ahlers, president of United Leasing & Finance, is retiring after 30 years with the company and in the equipment finance industry. Effective Aug. 1, 2026, John Greaney, currently chief operating officer, will assume the role of president.

Since joining United Leasing & Finance in 1996 as an account manager, Ahlers has played an instrumental role in the company’s evolution and growth. During her tenure, she advanced through several leadership positions — including vice president, chief operating officer and, ultimately, president — helping shape the strategic direction of the organization while fostering a culture centered on customer relationships, operational excellence and long-term partnerships. She also was actively involved with the Equipment Leasing and Finance Association (ELFA), serving on its board of directors beginning in 2014 and elected chair of the board in 2020.

“Serving United Leasing & Finance has been one of the greatest privileges of my career,” Ahlers said. “I’m incredibly grateful for the talented employees I’ve had the opportunity to work alongside, the customers who have placed their trust in us and the leadership that has supported me throughout this journey. I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished together and have complete confidence that John will continue building on our strong foundation while leading the company into an exciting future.”

Amy Romain Barron, CEO of United Companies, added, “Martha’s leadership has left a lasting mark on United Leasing & Finance and on the many people who have had the privilege of working alongside her. We are incredibly grateful for everything she has done for our customers, associates, and company over the past 30 years. At the same time, we are excited to welcome John into this role. His operational leadership, strategic mindset, and commitment to our culture make him the ideal person to lead United Leasing & Finance into its next chapter.”

Succeeding Ahlers is John Greaney, who has served as United’s chief operating officer and overseen the company’s daily operations. Since joining United in early 2025, Greaney has played a key role in driving operational improvements, enhancing organizational effectiveness and supporting the company’s continued growth and customer-focused initiatives.

Before joining United, Greaney held leadership positions with St. Vincent Evansville, where he most recently served as vice president of operations. He earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Notre Dame and an MBA from Indiana University South Bend. Greaney is also active in the Evansville community, serving on the board of directors for both the YMCA of Southwestern Indiana and the Welborn Baptist Foundation.

Greaney’s experience leading complex operations, developing high-performing teams and driving strategic initiatives uniquely positions him to guide United Leasing & Finance into its next phase of growth.

“I’m honored by the opportunity to serve as President of United Leasing & Finance,” Greaney said. “Martha has built an incredible legacy, and I’m grateful for the trust she and our leadership team have placed in me. I look forward to continuing our commitment to delivering exceptional service, strengthening our customer relationships and building on the strong foundation that Martha and so many others have established over the years.”

As president, Greaney will continue United Leasing & Finance’s commitment to providing flexible, relationship-driven financing solutions while leading the company’s strategic growth initiatives across its nationwide customer base. Though Greaney will step into his new role as president on Aug. 1, 2026, Ahlers will continue serving in an advisory role through Sept. 30, 2026, to ensure a seamless leadership transition.
