PayNet Co-Founder Phelan Announces Retirement from Equifax

Bill Phelan, one of the co-founders of PayNet and current senior vice president and general manager at Equifax, announced on LinkedIn that he will be retiring from the company to “pursue new ventures.”

Phelan co-founded PayNet in 1999 with Dan Michalek and led the firm as president until it was acquired by Equifax in April 2019. He has worked with Equifax ever since as senior vice president and general manager. Prior to co-founding PayNet, Phelan worked in various roles across financial consulting, bond sales and investment management for companies such as IBM, EY and Trustmark.

“I am grateful for the collaboration with clients and co-workers who have taught me a lot about making business a win-win,” Phelan wrote in the LinkedIn post announcing his retirement. “I wish my former clients and colleagues continued success, I am confident Equifax will continue its leadership in data and analytics and am excited to work on future opportunities.”
