For the past nine years, Transervice Logistics and Do it Best have donated time, trucks and drivers to pick up wreaths from the Worcester Wreath Company in Harrington, Maine, where Wreaths Across America was founded by Morrill Worcester in 1992.
The wreaths have become a public symbol of the organization’s mission: “Remember the fallen. Honor those who serve. Teach the next generation the value of freedom.”
This year, the wreaths were picked up on Dec. 4. Pete Mango, general manager of the Do it Best Montgomery, NY location, selects a different driver each year to serve as the “Rolling Ambassador,” often a fellow veteran. Upon arrival at the farm, the truck is fitted with a wreath on the grill, and the Rolling Ambassador is welcomed with a seven-course meal and an exclusive “ambassador bag” filled with custom swag.
When the driver’s appointment is called, they proceed to the loading dock where pallets of wreaths are loaded onto the truck. Once loading is complete, the truck receives a Wreaths Across America sticker, and the driver gets a load confirmation with delivery details for each of their stops.
On Dec. 11, Transervice and Do it Best made three wreath drops:
- Drop 1: Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Newtown, PA
- Drop 2: Doylestown Cemetery, Doylestown, PA
- Drop 3: Our Lady of Sacred Heart, Perkasie, PA.
Wreaths Across America Day was observed on Dec.13.
