After more than 26 years of leadership, Michael (Micky) Urquhart, president and CEO of M&T Capital and Leasing, retired, effective July 26, 2024.
Urquhart joined People’s Capital and Leasing in 1997, serving first as senior vice president and ultimately becoming president and CEO in 2014. Prior to joining People’s Capital and Leasing, Urquhart served in a variety of other leadership and finance roles, including at Coopers & Lybrand, Phoenixcor and Maine Line Capital.
Urquhart’s strengths as a leader, mentor, salesperson and risk manager have been critical to the growth and sustained success of M&T Capital and Leasing. He has managed his team with passion and purpose through expansions, peaks and recessions, to say nothing of global pandemics. Through it all, he has led by example, combining creative deal skills with a relatable, humor-filled style that wins over colleagues and customers alike. Countless members of the M&T Capital and Leasing team, including several interns each year, greatly respect and appreciate Urquhart’s empowering and patient leadership style, combined with an enduring ability to engage, include and champion his people.
