GAMA: QI Business Jet Shipments Off From 2011
The General Aviation Manufacturers Association said worldwide general aviation shipments in the first quarter fell 2.1%. GAMA also noted that business jet shipments of 122 units, were down 4.7% from last year’s 128 units.

Caterpillar to Sell Majority Interest in Logistics Business
Caterpillar said it has signed an agreement that would result in Platinum Equity acquiring a 65% equity stake in Caterpillar Logistics Services, the third party logistics division of its wholly owned subsidiary, Caterpillar Logistics Inc. The overall transaction is valued at approximately $750 million.

Boeing said it closed a firm order for 230 737s valued at $22.4 billion with Jakarta-based Lion Air. The plane maker said the deal is the largest commercial airplane order ever in its history.

Class 8 January Y/Y Truck Sales Up 50%; Orders Decline
Truckinginfo noted, citing data from Ward’s Communications, that January U.S. Class 8 retail truck sales were up by more than 50% from January 2011. FTR Associates said January Class 8 orders were lower than last year, but “firmly within our expectations.”
