In the week ending September 13, 2014, the advance figure for seasonally adjusted initial claims was 280,000, a decrease of 36,000 from the previous week’s revised level, the U.S. Department of Labor reported.
In a related report, Bloomberg reported jobless claims for the week ending September 13, 2014 were the lowest since 279,000 in mid-July and the second-lowest since 2000.
According to Bloomberg, the four-week average of initial claims, a less-volatile measure than the weekly figure, decreased to 299,500 from 304,250 the week before.
