Waypoint Places Two Additional AW139 Aircraft with Heliconia

Waypoint Leasing delivered two additional AW139 helicopters to Heliconia Group (Heliconia), a regional provider of helicopter transportation and related support services. These two aircraft join a third AW139 leased from Waypoint, all in support of oil and gas operations in Northwest Africa. Over the last month, Waypoint has placed eight aircraft on lease with operators, demonstrating improving market conditions and Waypoint’s success in remarketing aircraft.

Con Barber, director of sales and relationship management for the Middle East and Africa, said, “We are excited to place two additional AW139s with Heliconia, further strengthening our relationship with the operator and underscoring Waypoint’s focus on providing mission critical helicopters to operators in need. We continue to be encouraged by the market demand in Africa as well as emerging markets broadly, as evidenced by this transaction and our recent placement of two remarketed aircraft in South America – a Sikorsky S-76C++ and Sikorsky S-92.”

Daniel Sigaud, president and CEO of Heliconia, said, “We are pleased to partner with Waypoint on this transaction, which allows us to bolster our existing fleet and operating capabilities in Northwest Africa with two versatile and well-equipped aircraft. Waypoint was able to efficiently mobilize the aircraft from one operator to another while providing the maintenance and support services required for the transfer. Waypoint clearly understands our needs as an operator, and we look forward to partnering with them on similar transactions in the future.”

Since its inception in 2013, Waypoint has been active in supporting oil and gas, utility, firefighting and other industrial-focused helicopter operators. Waypoint’s portfolio includes more than 145 aircraft for 29 customers in 31 countries with total assets in excess of $1.6 billion. Additionally, Waypoint has firm and option orders with aircraft manufacturers for more than 110 helicopters valued at more than $1.3 billion, to be delivered over the next five years.
