Cassandra Smith, CLFP, Transaction Coordinator, Falcon Equipment Finance, a division of Falcon National Bank

Cassandra Smith has worked in the finance industry since the beginning of her professional career. She began as a bank teller, then moved to mortgage and auto financing before finding her “home” in equipment finance. In her 15-year tenure in equipment finance, she has held a variety of positions, ranging from application entry to customer service and almost everything in between. The variety of experience has helped her excel in her current role as a transaction coordinator for Falcon Equipment Finance, a division of Falcon National Bank.

On any given day, Smith wears many hats within Falcon Equipment Finance. She assists the sales team in making sure their files are clean, organized and complete, and she works diligently to offer exceptional service to her customers, both internal and external. Her appetite for learning, openness to change and willingness to step in and assist any area of the business makes her a valuable resource for the company. “I believe a little customer service goes a long way,” Smith says. “Understanding the full process helps me to anticipate any needs that may arise further in the process and address them at the forefront.”

In 2017, Smith earned her Certified Lease and Finance Professional designation and has maintained her status since, demonstrating her competency and commitment to the industry. Her completion of the St. Cloud Area Chamber of Commerce leadership program has given her the confidence to lead by example and be a great mentor to her team, who admire her for her flexibility, determination and willingness to help wherever needed. Smith’s colleagues consider her a natural born leader who is quick to accurately respond to any questions.

“Cassandra is an invaluable member of our team. She is always willing to share her expertise and goes the extra mile,” Lori Giefer, regional sales manager of Falcon Equipment Finance, says. “She’s kind, hardworking and very knowledgeable. These qualities influence those around her to rise to that level of excellence. A very deserving recognition! Congratulations, Cassandra.”

Smith is a great ambassador for Falcon in the surrounding communities. She donates her extra time to various local organizations such as the United Way of Central Minnesota, bell ringing for the Salvation Army, road clean-up for Adopt-a-Highway and Junior Achievement. Falcon National Bank and Falcon Equipment Finance strive to give back to the community, and Smith embodies those values to her core. “Cassandra’s dedication to our clients is second to none, and she does it all with a fun-loving attitude that builds rapport. One of our clients refers to her as ‘Ms. Reliable,’” Giefer says. “During a rush funding, it was discovered that we needed additional verifications from the client. Cassandra went above and beyond; instead of simply sending an email asking for the documents, which could have worried or upset the client, she reached out first to explain. After the closing, the customer reached out to me specifically to express their appreciation for her efforts, a perfect example of Cassandra’s influence and excellence!”

“My advice for younger women in the industry is to explore a wide range of opportunities. Learn as much as you can about all aspects and from there, you’ll know what you feel most passionate about.”
