2023 Monitor Top Women in Equipment Finance: Ellen Comeaux, EverBank

Ellen Comeaux, Vice President, Commercial Division Leader, EverBank — Certified Six Sigma Master Blackbelt, ELFA, MBA

Ellen Comeaux is an accomplished and respected business leader with more than 30 years of experience in commercial and strategic development. Her lifelong commitment to her professional commercial career has led to her current role as senior vice president, commercial division leader for EverBank, where she leads the vendor equipment finance and commercial real estate businesses. Prior to joining EverBank, Comeaux spent more than 24 years with GE under GE Capital and GE Real Estate.

In addition to her leadership role at EverBank, Comeaux lends her expertise in two other key areas. The first is as the lead spokesperson for EverBank’s commercial division. This provides a platform to share valuable thought leadership commentary with the media on industry and banking trends. As a result, she continues to be quoted in numerous leading trade publications and media outlets with national reach. Comeaux developed the second initiative, a bank rotational program that provides entry-level professionals with an opportunity to gain experience through exposure to various deal team roles in the business, and a way to develop their skills for a future full-time sales or deal team role.

Comeaux provides overall strategic direction and business leadership for the bank’s vendor equipment finance (VEF) platform by leading strategic dialogs with the VEF cross-functional leadership. In this role, Comeaux is responsible for the P&L and execution key initiatives. Over the past year, she has presented at several conferences and events, including the permanent debt panel at the California MBA Western States in 2022, part three of Monitor’s “Women for Women: Honest Conversations” livestream and two STRIPES Leadership Program panel workshops. These events, among many others, have further established Comeaux’s impressive industry track record, which continues to demonstrate her ongoing commitment to service.

“Ellen is a highly effective leader who knows how to communicate throughout all levels of an organization to build consensus and execute a plan. She quickly became a subject matter expert on all aspects of equipment financing and built credibility with her internal teams and throughout our industry,” Justin Tabone, senior vice president, originations, vendor equipment finance at EverBank, says. “Ellen is also a strong customer advocate, keenly focused on enhancing our product offering, resulting in increased sales at higher margins for our vendor partners.”

This exemplary record extends far beyond the relationship between prospective clients and her team. For more than a decade, Comeaux has provided input as a judge for Distributive Education Clubs of America, where she rates written and oral presentations put on by high school students, which are focused on entrepreneurship and business development.

To punctuate an already impressive career, Comeaux earned the certification as a Six Sigma Master Black Belt. This has enabled her to sharpen specific skills around efficiency, scalable growth and challenging the status quo – skills she utilizes every day to successfully navigate change and transformation within the industry and out in the greater business community.
