Innovation is at the heart of what Alfa does. Everyone benefits from access to a dedicated investment budget to kick-start ideas, facilitated by the annual Hackathon, regular innovation events and a coaching network to drive everything forwards. Innovation efforts are for Alfa’s benefit, as well as its clients, allowing Alfa to open-source some of its tooling and share internally written utilities with clients.

Last year Alfa ran regional Hackathons, where every Alfa colleague is involved. The company encouraged the formation of cross-functional teams with varying levels of experience. This has resulted in some amazing ideas coming to fruition, which are now considered part and parcel of its day-to-day life. At each Hackathon, participants entered their projects into the competition in the four categories of Product, Delivery, People and Blue Sky. Winners included packaged wellbeing support for colleagues, a mentoring scheme and countless innovations to the Alfa Systems software platform.
