Dan Osterhout, Revelation Machinery – 2023 NextGen 40 Under 40 List

Dan Osterhout, Vice President of Asset Recovery, Revelation Machinery

One of Dan Osterhout’s favorite hobbies is golfing. As a father with two sons, it can be hard to get out to the course and he believes his game shows it. He enjoys being outside in the fresh air when he can, which leads to long walks listening to his favorite podcasts. This allows him to get exercise and listen to different perspectives on daily hot topics. “I believe one needs to understand both sides of any perspective to make the best decision,” Osterhout says. He believes times are changing and adapting is always the key to success.

Osterhout used to work late in the office on a regular basis, but starting a family changed that. Now he tries to end his time in the office by 5:30 p.m. and keeps a hard boundary on that. The boundary allows him to focus on being a dad and having dinner with his family, but he makes sure to finish any work that is urgent once dinner is over and the children are in bed.

At Revelation Machinery, Osterhout is responsible for growing relationships with lenders, turnaround professionals and financial consultants through the company’s appraisal, liquidations and repossessions services. He oversees the operations of Revelation Machinery’s repossessions and appraisals to ensure the company is recovering equipment in a timely fashion. Osterhout has helped Revelation Machinery grow its presence in the equipment finance space in three short years to become the appraisal and repossession leader in the manufacturing and industrial industries.

Osterhout was recently named the first chair of the National Equipment Finance Association NextGen Leadership Committee and he looks forward to adding new members who will become the next leaders in equipment finance. Osterhout also serves on the Turnaround Management Association’s NextGen Chicago chapter committee and is an APICS-certified supply chain professional.
