Eric Elben has hit the ground running as U.S. chief of staff at DLL as of May, working closely with the entire U.S. leadership team at DLL to execute on the company’s strategy and vision of simple and convenient, customer-centric financing. Before arriving at his current role, Elben worked closely with a team of product, IT, operations, commercial and legal professional on a new document generation solution which standardized DLL’s most-used forms and included a convenient e-signature option for end customers.

Each and every one of us has a superpower, and Elben’s involves creating clarity. “I take complex concepts and ideas and make them much easier for people to understand,” he says.

Elben believes focusing on clear and enlightening communication is worth the acceleration of understanding, buy in and adoption of more complex concepts. Taking this concept to the next level, Elben strives to improve communication at DLL. “I am fond of using new technology platforms, such as Miro, to enhance communication,” Elben says.

Attention to detail is innate for Elben in his approach to his role. By consistently reviewing and editing DLL’s published content and scanning for and correcting any errors or inconsistencies, he presents clean visuals and storytelling.

An unsung aspect of maintaining an eye for detail is dealing with mental health and other challenges to remain focused. “This is an ongoing process,” Elben says. “Each day requires internal management of a combination of personal and work challenges. When I recognize that things are moving in an unproductive direction, I step away, go for a walk, just breathe or schedule a day off. I also value family members, friends and colleagues for telling me when I’m out of balance. During periods of significant life and work changes, I have also found that independent counseling and coaching help manage impacts to my mental health.”
