Krysten Harvey, Macquarie Equipment Capital – 2023 NextGen 40 Under 40 List

Krysten Harvey Manager, Capital Markets, Macquarie Equipment Capital

Within the mobility, energy, resources and sustainability business of Macquarie’s capital markets team, Krysten Harvey works diligently with funding partners to source deals in the company’s oil and gas, advanced mobility, renewables and construction platforms. With 10 years of experience and counting in equipment finance, Harvey has solidified a presence within the capital markets business by engaging industry peers at networking events, conferences and external training programs. Harvey takes pride in not only learning about and understanding the industry but also by passing that knowledge to younger professionals so they can get ahead as well.

Harvey says her path to leadership has been paved with continuous growth. To become a leader, Harvey says she must remain confident and open to learning new things. Instead of focusing on new business revenue directly, Harvey says the goals she sets for her personal and professional development will deliver her to her intended destination and beyond.

“My path to leadership will be a constant journey forward that has and will continue to involve continued education, maintaining and growing my network, being present in the industry and welcoming change,” Harvey says.

The impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic are still fresh in Harvey’s mind as she approaches a proper work-life balance. To retain talent, Harvey says it is critical for companies to meet employees in the middle by listening to and granting employee requests as best as possible.

“During the pandemic, we pivoted to a fully remote schedule, causing many people — me included — to juggle multiple responsibilities in our professional and personal lives,” Harvey says. “I think the most important thing that we can learn from past few years and the flexibility that has come from it is that we can truly do it all with appropriate boundaries and open, honest conversations with management.”
