Lisa Burks joined the equipment finance industry just a few years ago, but embodies the qualities of determination, resilience and empowerment required to be successful in the industry. In her success at Equify Financial, Burks’ story not only represents personal growth and success, but also highlights her dedication to paving the way for women in the field.

Before entering the equipment finance industry, Burks embarked on her career in corporate real estate, where she garnered the skills and insights that would later support her growth. However, it was her decision to leap into equipment finance that truly shaped her professional path. Using her corporate real estate experience, Burks embraced the opportunity and has already made a lasting impact at Equify Financial.

Under Burks’ guidance, the documentation department has flourished to become an integral component of Equify’s overall success. Her unwavering commitment to fostering success in her team is apparent in her approach to empowering her team members, supporting them to evolve into accomplished professionals and confident leaders in their own right.

Beyond her role at Equify, Burks participates in the Equipment Leasing and Finance Association and is currently pursuing her Certified Lease and Finance Professional designation. Beyond that, Burks’ professional mission centers around creating opportunities for women in equipment finance, inspiring them to pursue fulfilling careers and break through glass ceilings. “Too many times, women are cautious to a point of not pursuing opportunities simply because they don’t feel 100% qualified,” Burks says. “I am grateful to have the opportunity to pursue new challenges every day and while I am not always successful, I always learn. More importantly, I have a bit more confidence with each success and each lesson learned.”

As Burks reshapes the landscape of equipment finance, she paves the way for future generations to follow in her footsteps. Burks’ professional journey serves as an inspiration for the next generation of women in equipment finance, showcasing that, with tenacity and support, they can soar and overcome barriers.

“Lisa is a multiplier that generates a ton of enthusiasm in an area that can be such a pressure cooker,” Kent Hammett, executive vice president of Equify, says. “It’s amazing to see the joy Lisa has created and her team shares in their work – daily laughter is common, and we hear it often from those that work with her both inside and outside of her department. The impact of Lisa’s influence is spreading and is seen as an example for us to mirror as much as possible at Equify Financial.”

“A career in finance is attainable by anyone willing to do the work and take a leap of faith for themselves. It is a great joy to lift others up and encourage them to take a chance on themselves if by nothing else other than my example.”
