AIG, Chinese Group Still in Talks on ILFC Deal

Reuters reported that AIG is still in talks about selling its aircraft leasing unit to a Chinese consortium after missing a July 31 deadline to close the $4.8 billion deal.

Reuters said, according to sources, AIG and the Chinese group are now aiming to close the deal by mid-August. Both parties had the option to shelve the deal if it did not close by July 31.

In a news release on Q2/13 earnings, AIG said, “As of August1, 2013, the closing of the ILFC transaction has not occurred.”
