Baker Hughes notes the 1,044 was comprised of 912 horizontal rigs, 68 vertical rigs and 64 directional rigs.

Baker Hughes data shows of the 1,044 total U.S. rig counts, the state of Texas accounts for 524 or about 50% of the total.
