According to its annual China Current Market Outlook, Boeing said that China currently operates 2,310 aircraft, but amid a growing economy and expanding airline industry, largely thanks to a rise in traffic from low-cost carriers, it is expected to purchase over 6,000 aircraft over the next two decades.
“China’s aviation market is going through dynamic changes,” said Randy Tinseth, Boeing Commercial Airplanes vice president of marketing.
Boeing estimates the sale of the aircraft to be worth $870 billion and said single-aisle airplanes would take the lion’s share of its deliveries to China, with 4,340 aircraft to be sold between now and 2033.
Single-aisle carriers are becoming particularly requested in China thanks to an increase in tourism and in intra-Asia travels.
