Caterpillar Reports 2% Increase in North American Machine Sales

In June, for the second straight month, Caterpillar reported a 2% increase in machine retail sales across North America as well as a 7% increase globally. Worldwide sales have now increased in each of the last four months.

The biggest boost to the North American market came in energy and transportation, which saw a 6% jump. That was less than half the rate from May (13%), but still marked the fourth-straight month of positive sales numbers. The region also experienced a 5% increase in construction industries while taking a 7% hit in resource industries.

On a global scale, construction industries led the way, with a 10% boost, while resource industries were down 1% and energy and transportation were up 1%.
