Caterpillar reported worldwide machine retail sales were up 19% for the rolling three-month period ending in October, which was up from 13% in September. North American retail sales for the same period were up 7% compared to 2% for the previous three-month period ended in September. Caterpillar’s Asia/Pacific retail sales were up 46%.
Worldwide Resource Industries retail sales, which includes mining equipment, were up 18% for the rolling three-month period ending in October, up from 8% for a similar period ended in September. North American retail sales were down 2%, which was the lowest decline thus far this year.
Worldwide Construction Industries retail sales were up 20% for the rolling three-month period ending in October, up from 15% for a similar period ended in September. North American retail sales of construction equipment were up 15% for the rolling three-month period ending in September.
Caterpillar noted its Asia/Pacific sales continue to rise at a high clip, climbing 46% in October following gains of 43% and 44% in September and August, respectively.
