Caterpillar Retail Sales Decline Slows in January



Caterpillar retail sales continued to fall in January, although at a slower pace than the previous two months. Worldwide machine sales were down 8% in January, compared to decreases of 12% and 17% in December 2016 and November 20o16, respectively.

Sales in North America fell 13% in the month, while the Asian/Pacific region was the only area to experience growth (26%).

In resource industries, worldwide sales were down 7%, which continues a slowing pace of decline compared to December 2016 (down 10%) and November 2016(down 24%).

Construction industries sales also fell (8%), but at a slower rate than December 2016 (12%) and November 2016 (15%).
