Caterpillar September Global Machine Sales Up 21% Led by North America



Caterpillar reported a 21% increase in retail machine sales worldwide for the three-month rolling period which ended in September 2018, which follows increases of 23% and 24%, respectively, for the same periods in August and July compared to the same periods in 2017.

The North American region provided the largest increase of 28% for the period, with increases of 25%, 23% and 6% in Latin America, Asia/Pacific and EAME, respectively.

Resource industries (mining, quarry, waste and material handling equipment) were up 47% worldwide with major contributions coming from Asia/Pacific (91%), Latin America (61%), North America (45%) and EAME (16%).

The construction equipment industries were up 16% worldwide with the largest increases coming from the North America region (26%) followed by Asia/Pacific (11%), Latin America (9%) and EAME (3%).
