Fed Waits on Interest Rate Hike Due to Q1/17 Economic Slowdown



Reuters reported that the Federal Reserve has decided to wait on increasing interest rates until it is certain the recent U.S. economic slowdown was temporary.

In addition, during the May 2-3 meeting, most policymakers indicated a desire to begin winding down the U.S. central bank’s holdings of Treasury debt and mortgage-backed securities sometime this year, Reuters said.

Reuters noted that investors are still predicting a rate increase at some point next month.
