Fitch: Container Leasing Bounces Back As Effects of Steel Tariffs Loom



According to a report from Fitch Ratings, the container and containership equipment leasing markets have bounced back considerably since slumping in 2015.

Fitch also predicted that the progress should continue in 2018 despite proposed U.S. tariffs on steel.

Fitch noted that the bankruptcy of Hanjin Shipping was a major cause of the distress in the market in 2015, but lower steel prices and an increase in lease expirations also contributed.
