GATX Rail Europe Enters Turkish Marketplace

GATX Rail Europe announced its entry into the Turkish marketplace with the deployment of newly-manufactured railway tank wagons. These state-of-the-art, 95 cubic meter wagons are designed to carry a variety of petroleum products. They will be manufactured for GATX in Turkey by R.A.I.L. Tur, Kayseri.

BP Turkey will use the wagons to move its refined products on the network of the Turkish Railway TCDD. GATX has arranged for TRANSTUR in Kayseri to provide management of the rail wagons’ logistical operations.

Johannes Mansbart, chief executive officer of GATX Rail Europe, said “We are very pleased to expand our business platform into the important and growing Turkish market. It is especially satisfying to enter this market with local experienced partners and high-quality, Turkish-manufactured wagons for service with our strategically important customer BP Turkey. GATX works closely with companies in the BP family throughout Europe and North America to meet their rail transportation needs, and we are delighted to extend that relationship into the Turkish railway market.”
