According to Bloomberg, GE could emerge as the most likely bidder for Baker Hughes if the oilfield service company’s planned merger with Halliburton falls through.
The Department of Justice filed a civil antitrust lawsuit seeking to block Halliburton’s proposed acquisition of Baker Hughes last week.
Citing data from Spears & Associates, Bloomberg said that GE currently ranks 11th in the world among oilfield services and equipment manufacturing providers. A merger with Baker Hughes would vault it into the top three, Barclays analyst J. David Anderson told Bloomberg.
