Import Duties Imposed on New Bombardier Jetliner

According to a Bloomberg report, the U.S. Commerce Department imposed import duties of 220% on Bombardier’s all-new CS100 jetliner citing improper subsidies after a complaint filed by Boeing.

Bloomberg noted the preliminary determination threatens to affect Bombardier’s planned deliveries to Delta Air Lines which ordered roughly $5 billion of the jets based on list values.

In a statement to Bloomberg, Delta said, “We are confident the USITC will conclude that no U.S. manufacturer is at risk because neither Boeing nor any other U.S. manufactuer makes any 100-110 seat aircraft that competes with the CS100.”
