Medical Equipment Deal Activity Drops in Q1/15



According to analysis from Research and Markets, the number of deals in the medical equipment industry decreased in Q1/15.

Mergers and acquisitions, including asset transactions, totaled 109 deals worth $32.6 billion, as compared to the 158 deals worth $34.7 billion produced in Q1/14. The decline was also felt on a quarter-on-quarter basis, as the number of deals and deal values decreased in Q1/15 compared, to 121 deals worth $97.6 billion in Q4/14.

The industry also experienced a decrease in global equity offerings, including initial public offerings, secondary offering, and private investment in public equities, 86 deals worth $3.7 billion in Q1/15, compared to 106 deals worth $4.7 billion in Q1/14. However, on a quarter-on-quarter basis, the number of deals and deal values increased in Q1/15, compared to 69 deals worth $1.3 billion in Q4/14.
