The New Canaan News reported that the New Canaan, CT Board of Finance is seeking to have more control over the financial decisions of the town and the New Canaan Public Schools.
The author noted that the board’s debate centered on establishing new budget guidelines to set capital expenses apart from operating expenses, as well as to decide the best ways to finance such projects.
New Canaan News reported a member of the board said, “If it’s operating (expenses), it’s one year, that’s all we’re on the hook for. If it’s more than one year, we should be insisting that we approach this as a capital item.”
