Opus Bank Appoints Sharpy EVP, Chief Risk Officer



Opus Bank hired Dwayne A. Sharpy as EVP, Chief Risk Officer and appointed him to Opus’ Executive Committee. Sharpy is a 30-year banking veteran with extensive domestic and global banking, securities and capital markets regulatory and operational enterprise-wide risk management experience.

Sharpy joined Opus most recently from JPMorgan Chase where he served as commercial banking compliance managing director, having joined JPMorgan Chase in 2006. While at JPMorgan Chase, Sharpy was responsible for the implementation, management and administration of a comprehensive compliance program for its Commercial Banking division, including the management of relationships with external banking and securities regulators such as the OCC, CFPB, SEC, FINRA and NYSE. Sharpy served as a key member of JPMorgan Chase’s Commercial Banking Management and Risk Committees and was responsible for ensuring compliance with all federal, state, municipal and local rules and regulations for both banking and securities regulators.

From 1995 to 2003, Sharpy served most recently as risk management – chief operating officer, Private Client & Asset Management division of Deutsche Bank AG, where he was responsible for the entire review of the Global Private Client and Asset Management business, including the review of global credit and operational risk internal controls, identification of best practices, streamlining risk management processes and procedures and the development and implementation of enhanced global risk management strategy.
