Ritchie Bros. Sells $44MM of Equipment in Houston

Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers announced it sold more than 3,800 equipment items and trucks for $44 million at its Houston, TX auction site.

More than 4,900 people from 56 countries registered to bid in the two-day auction (November 8–9), including 3,350 online bidders who purchased 56% ($25 million) of the equipment. U.S. buyers purchased 82% of the equipment, including 44% purchased by Texas buyers.

International buyers from as far away as Germany, Indonesia and New Zealand purchased 18% of the equipment.

“With strong attendance both onsite and online, we achieved solid pricing on both days of the auction,” said Alan McVicker, regional sales manager for Ritchie Bros. “There’s so much work going on in Texas and the whole Gulf Coast area right now; bidders were active, trying to get all the equipment they need for current and upcoming projects.”

Equipment in the Houston auction was sold for 590 owners. The selection included 120 excavators, 75 compactors, 55 skid steers, 50 loaders, 50 dozers, 50 cranes, 335 truck tractors and 265 trailers. All items were sold without minimum bids or reserve prices.
