Amanda K. Brown rejoined Seward & Kissel’s New York office as special counsel in the firm’s maritime and transportation group.
“Amanda has a wealth of experience and a rich understanding of maritime and transportation law, especially as it relates to complex financing transactions,” Jim Cofer, managing partner of Seward & Kissel, said. “We’re excited by her return to our firm and the skills she brings to our maritime and transportation practice.”
Brown began her career at Seward & Kissel, where she was an associate from 2006 to 2014. She later served as a senior associate and counsel in the New York office of an Am Law 100 law firm, focusing on maritime finance matters. Most recently, Brown served as senior counsel at the New York City Economic Development Corporation.
Brown has represented and advised banks, financial institutions, private equity funds and shipping companies in all aspects of ship financings throughout her career. Her work has included drafting and negotiating credit agreements, vessel mortgages and other ship finance transaction documents. In addition to leading many domestic and cross-border ship finance transactions, she has regularly represented members and shareholders in connection with joint venture arrangements formed for the purpose of investing in maritime assets.
“Amanda is a valuable addition to Seward & Kissel’s maritime and transportation practice,” Michael Timpone, partner and head of the transportation finance group at Seward & Kissel, said. “Her background and skill set will add tremendous value to our clients, and her arrival will only further solidify Seward & Kissel’s reputation as the go-to law firm in the maritime arena.”
