In the week ending March 14, the advance figure for seasonally adjusted initial claims was 291,000, an increase of 1,000 from the previous week’s revised level, according to the U.S. Department of Labor.

The advance seasonally adjusted insured unemployment rate was 1.8% for the week ending March 7, unchanged from the previous week’s unrevised rate. The advance number for seasonally adjusted insured unemployment during the week ending March 7 was 2,417,000, a decrease of 11,000 from the previous week’s revised level.

According to a related Bloomberg report, the limited number of Americans filing applications for unemployment benefits last week signals the labor market remains resilient even as the economy cools.
