Voyager Signs Sale-Leaseback Agreement for Five A220-300 Aircraft with Breeze Airways

Voyager Aviation signed an agreement for the sale and leaseback of five A220-300 aircraft with Breeze Airways. The aircraft included in this transaction will be delivered to Breeze from Q1/22 to Q1/23. This is Voyager’s first transaction with Breeze, as well as Voyager’s first addition of next-generation A220-300 narrowbody aircraft to its fleet.

“We are delighted to inaugurate our partnership with the Breeze team and its founder, David Neeleman, and we look forward to the successful launch of the airline,” Mike Lungariello, president of Voyager Aviation, said. “We are also pleased that we will diversify our fleet and customer base by adding new, next-generation narrowbody aircraft on lease to an exciting new U.S. carrier.”

The transaction was originated and arranged by Amedeo, which provides aircraft management services to Voyager.

“Amedeo are thrilled to partner with the team at Breeze,” Gabriella Lapidus, CCO of Amedeo, said. “This transaction demonstrates our ability to execute on sale-leaseback transactions despite the challenges presented by COVID-19, as well as best-in-class portfolio management. We are excited about the value proposition Breeze presents in this market and we are delighted to further build on this relationship.”

“We’re pleased to partner with Voyager as we put together our fleet of brand new Airbus A220 aircraft for next year,” David Neeleman, founder and CEO of Breeze Airways, said. “Together, we’ll offer U.S. travelers a new choice in air travel, and a much improved travel experience.”

Breeze Airways is a startup airline, scheduled to begin operations in 2021. The airline was founded by Neeleman, who previously co-founded several other airlines, including WestJet, JetBlue and Azul Airlines. Breeze aims to provide point-to-point service to secondary airports in the United States. The airline will launch with a fleet of Embraer E195 and Airbus A220-300 aircraft.

Voyager Aviation is a privately held, Ireland-based global aviation investment firm with assets of approximately $2 billion.
