WSJ: Cat to End Navistar Deal, Build Own Trucks

The Wall Street Journal has reported that Caterpillar will terminate its outsourcing deal with Navistar International and begin building its own line of dump trucks in Texas.

Citing a source familiar with the matter, the The Journal said that Caterpillar will start assembling their own trucks in 2016 in a plant in Victoria, Texas, after Navistar-built Caterpillar trucks failed to be a commercial success.

The Journal also noted that this move could be a strategic win for Caterpillar, which will continue to power trucks with engines from Navistar, as it leverages its reputation in the construction industry to build customer confidence.
