WSJ: Heavy-Duty Truck Orders Lowest Since 2013

Citing research by FTR, the Wall Street Journal reported that net orders for heavy-duty trucks fell to 19,550 in August, the lowest level since September of 2013.

The Journal said that the August reading was 18% behind the pace set in July and 44% behind the high of January when 35,000 orders were recorded.

Despite the slow August, expectations remain optimistic for the rest of the year with the Journal saying that FTR projects a total of 300,000 orders for heavy duty trucks, outstripping the annual average, which hovers between 270,000 and 280,000.
