New ELFF Report Examines Trends in U.S. Healthcare Industry

Cost and technology are two key themes underlying virtually every trend and issue impacting one of the most significant drivers of the U.S. economy—the healthcare industry—according to a new study, Vertical Market Outlook Series: Healthcare released by the Equipment Leasing & Finance Foundation.

The report provides an outlook on the healthcare sector in the U.S., demographic and spending trends, and key developments impacting this sector over the next one to two years. It is the third release of the foundation’s forward-looking Vertical Market Outlook Series designed to help readers recognize and understand opportunities and challenges that may affect their businesses.

The report, commissioned by the ELFF and prepared by Engine Group, comprises data from a variety of sources, including the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, which reports that within the next decade U.S. healthcare spending is expected to reach $6 trillion and comprise more than 19% of gross domestic product. The study examines a wide range of issues, including growing costs associated with caring for a rapidly aging population, new technology required to meet an increasing labor shortage, and evolving government regulation.

“This report focuses on the areas of the U.S. healthcare industry that we believe to be the most relevant to the equipment finance sector,” said Tom Ware, chair of the Foundation Research Committee. “The research and analysis offers valuable, high-level insight for equipment finance professionals to reference in their strategic planning.”

In addition to Engine Group’s expertise and knowledge of the U.S. macroeconomic environment and the healthcare sector, the study draws from sources including outside industry experts and consultants.
