According to the Association of Equipment Manufacturer’s June flash report, retail sales of 4WD farm tractors in the U.S. took a perilous drop of 28.7% in June, compounding a continuing decline in the global market for agricultural equipment.
During the month, there were 251 units solid of 4WD tractors in the U.S., making up a minuscule amount of the 22,422 total farm tractors sold in the time period. The 251 mark was also far below the number recorded in June of 2014 (351).
The dismal showing continues a worrying trend for the industry this year, as there has been a 44.6% drop in year-to-date sales of 4WD tractors compared to last year. It has been a drain on the overall farm tractor market, which has experienced a 1.7% decline in total tractor sales in the U.S. during the first half of 2015.
