Baker Hughes reported its latest rig count in the U.S., as of September 15, 2017, was 936, down 8 sequentially from the previous week, but up 430 or 85% from 506 a year earlier.

The Canadian rig count if 212 was up 10 from 202 a week earlier and up 80 or 61% from 132 a year earlier.

Baker Hughes has issued the rotary rig counts as a service to the petroleum industry since 1944, when Hughes Tool Company began weekly counts of U.S. and Canadian drilling activity.
