According to the latest weekly report from Baker Hughes on the rig count in the U.S. and Canada, the count as of August 18, 2017 was 946 and 214, respectively, up from 491 (+455/+93%) and 121 (+93/+77%), respectively one year-ago.
Baker Hughes has issued the rotary rig counts as a service to the petroleum industry since 1944, when Hughes Tool Company began weekly counts of U.S. and Canadian drilling activity.
