Bombardier, Gulfstream Battle it Out in Bus Jet Market

The Motley Fool reported that Bombardier sold the largest number of business jets in 2013, but revenues were substantially lower than Gulfstream primarily as a result of its mix of aircraft offerings.

Revenues from the new Gulfstream G650 large jet more than made up for the difference in unit sales, the Fool said.

The Fool notes that Bombardier has a presence in all three categories of business jets – light, medium and large – through its LearJet, Challenger and Global families. Citing a report from an aviation consultant, the Fool said shipments of smaller jets were up 20% in H1/14, which could change the revenue dynamic between the aircraft makers if the trend continues.
