Caterpillar May Machinery Sales Down 12% Worldwide



Caterpillar released its latest report on worldwide retail machinery sales for the three-month rolling period ended in May 2015. Overall global machinery sales were down 12%, following declines of 11% and 12% for the same periods ending in April and March, respectively. Except for North America, where sales were up 1%, Latin America, Asia/Pacific and EAME were down 50%, 14% and 7%, respectively.

Resource Industries retail sales, comprised mostly of mining equipment, were down 8% worldwide, with increases of 40% in Asia/Pacific and 1% in North America more than offset by decreases of 47% and 11% in Latin America and EAME, respectively.

Construction industry retail sales were down 14% worldwide with declines in all regions including Latin America (53%), Asia/Pacific (26%), EAME (4%) and North America (1%).
