Caterpillar: Worldwide Retail Machinery Sales Down 14%



In a regulatory filing, Caterpillar said its worldwide retail sales of machinery for the three-month rolling period ended January 2015 fell 14% from the same period in 2014. North American retail machinery sales were down 5% from the unchanged number in December 2014.

Caterpillar noted that Resource Industries, which is primarily mining-related equipment, was down 27% worldwide with declines of 43%, 23%, 10% and 30% in Latin America, North America, Asia/Pacific and EAME, respectively.

Retail sales of construction equipment for the three-month period ended January 2015 were down 10% worldwide compared to 9% and 6% in December and November 2014, respectively. Latin America and Asia/Pacific were down 33% and 22%, respectively, with North America unchanged and EAME up 1%.
