EquipmentShare released a white paper for construction equipment professionals, “The Safety-First Equipment Yard,” describing company and industry best practices for designing, organizing and operating equipment yards in a safe manner.

EquipmentShare promotes a safety-first culture that begins at the yard may help prevent future accidents. According to OSHA, construction industry employees account for 20% of all worker fatalities every year. Equipment yards are not immune from the risks associated with the industry, even if they are miles away from the jobsite.

The white paper details best safety practices for equipment yards and storage facilities in three main phases — initial yard design, equipment organization on the yard and safe equipment yard operation. “The Safety-First Equipment Yard” is the latest effort by EquipmentShare to contribute to industry safety best practices. In June, the company unveiled its Seven Seconds of Safety initiative to promote safety awareness in the workplace.
